Pop3 e-mail accounts are true e-mail accounts, and not just a forward to your ISP mail box. With our control panel system, it is real easy to set up e-mail accounts.
You can create one, or several e-mail accounts. Once an e-mail address is set up as a pop3 mail account, it operates independently from your default/catch all account. Any mail sent to a private pop3 e-mail account can only be received by logging into that account with the separate username and password you have assigned it, when you created it.
Your default/catch all account will not intercept any mail being sent to a pop3 e-mail box, which is what makes it a private address. Pop3 accounts are useful if there are a number of people (for example employees) who would each need a private e-mail account to handle customer inquiries, orders, or what ever you need.
Creating a POP3 e-mail box;
Once your in your mail manager menu in your control panel, simply click the add/remove accounts link. Now, you will have any e-mail addresses listed that are created for your site. if you have not created any, then you will only see the default email account listed here.
To create a new account, click the link near the bottom of the page that says, Add Account .
You will see a line to enter the mail box name, like,, sales then the @ sign, then a drop down list. If you have made sub domains through your control panel, you will have them, and your main domain name in that drop down list. Don't be fooled... you can only use your mail domain name for your e-mail addresses. The control panel techs are trying to make it work for sub domains, but it is not working yet. Just make sure your main domain is listed in that box.
The next line, there is a place to put in a password for that mail box. Put in a good password to keep your e-mail safe.. don't just use a simple one. Mix letters and numbers for best security.
The following line is for the mail boxes quota... ie; how much disk space you want that mail box to be able to use. The default is 10 mb. If you get files and images in the e-mail, then you may want to make it larger. Once they reach their mail box quota, they will not be able to get more e-mail, until they clear out what is there, so you don't want to make it too small.
Once you hit the create button, your done. It will show you the information on the next page, and should say it was successfully created.
Remember, that the mail client, like outlook or netscape, will need the full e-mail address as the user name --- not just the first half.
The user name is the entire e-mail address on all accounts except the default/catch all account which only uses the user name to your control panel.
